Summer School Registration
Welcome to EIPS Summer School, a part of Elk Island Public Schools. Unless indicated otherwise, all summer school courses are in person at Bev Facey Community High School.
Registration for EIPS Summer School opens March 15, 2023. The Summer School program offers a number of senior high courses that allow students to earn credits, upgrade marks, lighten workloads for the year ahead or finish pre-requisite courses.
Registration is open to:
- current EIPS students (grades 9-12)
- students who will enter an EIPS high school for the 2023-24 school year, as of Sept. 1, 2023
Students outside the Division should contact their current school board to inquire about programs available to them.
Pre-requisite course requirement: In consultation with Alberta Education and senior administration at EIPS, if there is a pre-requisite course needed for the student’s summer class (for example, Social 20-1 to prepare for Social 30-1), that pre-requisite must have been successfully completed by June 25, 2023.
NOTE: Online registrations for credit courses will be reviewed by EIPS Summer School to ensure the student meets the course pre-requisite. You will be contacted should we require further information or need to withdraw the student from their course.
NOTE: Students are only able to register in one course for summer school as all classes run at the same time. The only exception is a student taking self-paced CALM 20, students could then register in one other course, or the classes are taught in different sessions. For example, taking CALM 20 in session 1 and Phys. Ed 10 in session 2.
*If you are taking a course with a diploma exam, those exams are scheduled August 1 - 10 as released by Alberta Education. Refer to August Diploma Exam Information for more details.*

Summer School is an intense format for studies in which all of the Alberta Education outcomes in the Program of Studies that are normally taught in a semester are taught in 50 hours (3 credit) 90 hours (5 credit). The rule of thumb is that a week’s worth of material in a regular semester is covered every day in summer school. The classes are taught by a teacher and will involve instruction, assessment and student work every day. Unless otherwise indicated, these are NOT self-paced courses and the attendance is required during the set class time. All assessments must be submitted by the due date and time.
